Cardiologist and researcher
Levy co-founded CHOP’s first startup company, Vascular Magnetics Inc., which aims to develop Levy’s lab discoveries into a commercially viable therapy for heart disease. His work involves using magnetic forces to drive nanoparticles containing drugs to metal stents, delivering the drug in stronger, longer-lasting doses to a more precise area.
My Hero: "Dr. Barry Wood, my microbiology professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He felt it was important for senior faculty to be in the lab, and he worked with myself and five other students 10 hours a week to personally mentor us. He made sure we understood what good science was and how to think about research. My wife and I admired him so much we named our son Barry in his honor."
