My Hero: "My uncle Codro Benedetti, who was a physician and surgeon in Tivoli, Italy, where I grew up. He was a surgical pioneer when the means of surgery were unbelievably primitive, post-World War II. I used to talk to him all the time when I was in high school and the university, and he was very supportive of my desire to become a biomedical researcher."
