Durbin was the lead author of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ new recommendations on the best ways to keep children safe in car crashes. With colleagues at CHOP’s Center for Injury Research and Prevention, he conducted much of the supporting research for the updated policy. The center’s research over the past decade has resulted in a nearly 50 percent reduction in the number of children killed each year in motor vehicle crashes.
